During the detail, which was “conducted in furtherance of (New York State Police’s) mission to ensure highway safety for all users of the roadway,” on Friday, Oct. 16 in Somers, troopers issued a total of 74 tickets for speeding, distracted driving and other vehicle and traffic violations on the interstate.
Of those, 34 were issued for violating the "Move Over" law, and an arrest was made for a motorist driving while intoxicated.
The latest enforcement period comes on the heels of several others in recent months. Last month, troopers issued 52 summonses to drivers.
Earlier this year, a motorist who was busted driving nearly 100 mph was among 88 drivers issued summonses.
Two other details earlier this year net troopers more than 150 tickets for various violations.
